Haven Behavioral Hospital of Philadelphia
Deborah Daniels is the Director of Business Development for Haven Behavioral Hospital of Philadelphia. She joined Haven Behavioral Healthcare in April 2013 while the hospital was still under construction. Prior to that she was the account manager for a geriatric-psych practice providing med management and psychological services to residents in nursing homes and assisted living. Her love of serving the geriatric community has developed over time from being a care giver in a dementia unit in 1990s to getting her degree in social/behavioral gerontology. She has also worked as a social worker in skilled nursing during her graduate studies in human service administration. Her passion continues to be making sure that seniors suffering from dementia and other mental health issues get access to the care they need. She is thrilled to part of the start up of a behavioral health facility that will make an impact in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Haven Behavioral Hospital of Philadelphia is a new 36 bed psychiatric inpatient unit for adults aged 60 or older. We are opening in October 2013.
An admission to a behavioral treatment facility can be a frightening and intimidating event for both patient and family. Acknowledging this, the professional staff at Haven-Philadelphia creates a safe, calming, and aesthetically pleasing environment that starts the healing process.
An integral part of our helping process includes the opportunity to participate in treatment decisions and aftercare plans. Anticipating the questions before they are asked such as, “What happens now?” is a large part of our why our external daily updates and communications are important.
Our team of clinical and support staff are carefully chosen for their knowledge and expertise in geriatrics. We provide a clear and understandable diagnosis following a thorough evaluation of symptom behaviors associated with memory loss and/or emotional challenges associated with aging. Our psychiatrists and geriatricians are trained in utilizing a medically integrated philosophy of care which applies inclusion therapy and many aspects of adult Montessori into a robust program schedule. To promote wellness our patients have opportunities for meditation, Tai Chi, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Haven’s philosophy encompasses the treatment of mind, body, and spirit coupled with appropriate traditional methods intended to make a difference in the lives entrusted to our care.
